Engineering Supply Services achieves ISO 9001

UK based Engineering design and consultancy ESS has a strong track record in the offshore wind industry

CASE STUDY: Engineering Supply Services

Engineering Supply Services achieves ISO 9001 with Compliant.

Why Engineering Supply Services decided to invest in ISO 9001

UK based Engineering design and consultancy Engineering Supply Services has a strong track record in the offshore wind industry including cable lay spreads, subsea trenching and manufacturing and storage equipment. The valve supplier specialising in concept and design through to calculations, analysis and CAD modelling, decided to invest in the popular quality management certification, ISO 9001 earlier this year.

We caught up with Engineering Supply Services’ Director David Blenkinship to discover why they decided to invest in ISO 9001.

“As an Engineering design business, we needed a certification that complemented our track record in the offshore wind sector and assured clients of our commitment to quality.

We found that as the business grew partners that we were engaging with required their suppliers to be ISO 9001 Compliant. Having this prestigious certification will allow us to expand the business, streamline processes and incorporate a quality management system into our daily operations.

Compliant and Mark came recommended from a contact of mine and we knew that his expertise would keep us on the right path.”

The Process

“After meeting with Mark and understanding more about ISO 9001 and the clauses within the quality standard we got started. Mark shared a list of evidence that would be required to build out an effective management system. After sharing the documents that we had in place the Compliant team carried out a GAP analysis and supplied us with templates for anything that we didn’t already have. Compliant then developed a bespoke management system with proven policies and procedures, our documentation and the populated templates.”

Compliant offer a range of ISO certifications including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 22301, ISO 27001 and ISO 45001. Integrated management systems are proving more and more popular as clients want to implement more than one standard at a time. Compliant offer unique packages dependent on each client’s requirements and are available throughout audit days for ongoing support.

The Outcome

When asked about the experience with Compliant David highlighted that “Mark understood what we were trying to achieve and guided me through the process. Mark was available throughout the audit day and answered any questions that came up. The entire process was extremely smooth, and we would definitely recommend Compliant.”

Compliant Director Mark Henderson commented “It has been great to partner with another successful Engineering business and we are glad to hear that the team found the process pain free. Compliant are committed to helping clients such as Engineering Supply Services develop management systems that work for everyday operational purposes. David and the team have been on board with the process and their commitment to becoming certified ensured a great audit. Well done everyone we look forward to a successful ongoing working relationship.”
