Precision Machinists, KASL Precision Engineering based in Houghton Le Spring, Tyne and Wear announces its newest certification; ISO 9001.

We are delighted to share that another North East business has achieved their UKAS accredited ISO certification through Compliant.

KASL Precision Engineering has successfully achieved ISO 9001. The Houghton le Spring based company specialises in product prototyping through to batch production.

The KASL facility in Houghton offers CNC Turning, CNC Milling and Wire Erosion along with a variety of other processes such as Concept Design and Project Management.

We caught up with KASL’s Operations Manager, Kevin to hear his thoughts on the company recently achieving ISO 9001.

“ISO 9001 is something KASL has always had in mind, we actually worked within the parameters of the standard already but never actually formalised our system. We wanted to deliver better practices and ensure a better service for our existing and new customers so took the decision to get accredited and really put our system to the test to see if we were at the level we thought we were.

Implementing ISO 9001 has allowed us to make improvements to our existing Quality Management System, which I feel has really enhanced our service offering to our clients. It gives our customers comfort that we work to an internationally recognised standard, whereas previously much of our work was based on recommendations.

In the coming year we would like to progress with the environmental standard ISO 14001, as with the quality system, we already have many of the systems in place so formalising that will hopefully open up our offering to even more potential clients.

We like to use companies in the local supply chain wherever possible and Compliant’s Sunderland roots and initial proposal made them the ideal ISO partner. They added value from the first meeting and working with them has been a very positive experience.
