CASE STUDY: Pinnacle Precision Engineering

Pinnacle Precision Engineering successfully undergoes their 2nd year surveillance audit for ISO 9001 with support from Compliant.

Introduction

This north east based independent supplier specialises in precision CNC machining, and also offers additional engineering solutions.

Launched in 2020, the company has extensive knowledge across many engineering sectors, with over 50 years combined experience from the founding Directors.

They provide a range of services including precision CNC machining, component and assembly design, reverse engineering of damaged components, and manufacturing plant improvement solutions.

Additional services and processes are also offered through a trusted supplier network, to allow single point project management.

Capacity is offered to cover all requirements, from single component prototyping, to completing large production runs.

Why did Pinnacle Precision initially decide to invest in ISO?

Speaking with director of the business, Ben Rossi, we asked why the company initially decided to invest in the ISO 9001 quality standard.

Ben commented, ‘Having always worked within organisations which had the ISO quality standard, we were aware of the processes and benefits it would bring to our new business, therefore it was a priority for us to put this in place when we launched the business in 2020.

We knew that having a solid quality management system would demonstrate credibility to our current and potential client base and a commitment to providing a consistent first class service.

Ultimately, we’re engineers, not ISO experts, so we decided to work with a consultant to support us through the project. When carrying out our research, we wanted to partner with a north east based business, not only to support our local economy but to ensure we had a close working relationship and could easily meet in person if necessary.

Having met up with Mark and found out more about his experience and knowledge of the ISO 9001 standard, it was an easy decision for us to enlist the support of Compliant.’

The Process

Ben continued, ‘During our initial certification and our subsequent surveillance audits, I certainly can’t say that we weren’t nervous, however, we were quickly reassured by the support and guidance we received from Compliant.

We worked closely with Danielle, who contacted us prior to our audit to ensure we had all our documentation in place, anything which we didn’t have, Danielle promptly organised for us.

As business owners, we need to devote our time to our services and clients, working with Compliant enabled us to do that as we knew they were looking after things for us and if we had any issues, the support and experience was always there to guide us.’

The Outcome

Following the successful 2nd year surveillance audit, Ben finished by saying, ‘The audit went without a hitch and with zero negative findings, and we couldn’t have been happier with the outcome. Having the documentation in place certainly prompts our team to continue with good procedures and ensure we remain compliant.

Not only are the standards helping us to retain current, and gain new clients, but on a recent inspection by the local fire service, it enabled us to have all documentation in place, readily available and up to date, which also found zero negative findings. This demonstrates that having the ISO standards is also a huge benefit within our health and safety procedures.

It’s been brilliant to work with the Compliant team and having opted for their ongoing monthly support, we’re confident that next year, during our recertification audit, they will once again guide us to a successful outcome.’

Head of Business Operations & Audits, Danielle Barry, who supported Ben during their audits, commented, ‘The Pinnacle Precision Engineering team have certainly embraced the ISO 9001 standard and have worked hard to ensure all documentation is up to date and prepared in time for their yearly audits. With our support, we’re looking forward to working with the team and are sure they will once again be successful during their 2024 recertification audit.”
